Working out and eating right can be tough when you are alone. However, when healthy food is made for the
entire family, everyone will have better food choices, and this encourages each other to be on the right track.
PICK ACTIVITIES THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY THE WHOLE FAMILY
It is important to ensure our daily life allows us to stay active. By creating a family wellness schedule, we will be
able to create positive habits for ourselves and the kids as well. These activities could be walking, jogging,
going on a bike ride or even swimming. Whatever the preference, be sure to choose something that allows all
family member to participate in. For example, a long walk in a park would be a good option for families with
toddlers.
PREP AND COOK HEALTHY MEALS TOGETHER
From grocery shopping to meal prep, parents and kids can work together to prepare and serve healthy meals
for the family. This activity encourages kids to learn about healthy meal options and increases the chances of
them enjoying meals. As healthy food, drinks and snacks play a role in their wellbeing, it is crucial that we train
them to pick and choose the right type of food. In my household, I always make sure there are Calpis cultured
milk drinks in the pantry. We like Calpis because it is preservative free, fat free, tastes great, has a wide variety
of flavours, and of course, benefits our digestive system's health.
SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR YOUR KIDS
An active lifestyle is passed down from the good habits of parents. Modelling a healthy lifestyle can instill the
importance of a healthy lifestyle in our kid's life. By setting a positive example of healthy living in your
household, kids will less likely become couch potatoes.
STAY PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT
When trying to incorporate a healthy lifestyle in the family, it is important to start slow, be persistent and stay
consistent. As someone wise once said "If you are persistent, you will get it. If you are consistent, you will keep it."
